Rapid developments in information and communication technologies have significantly transformed information access processes and institutional service delivery. Libraries, as institutions affected by this transformation, have shifted from traditional service models toward digital, accessible, and user-oriented service approaches supported by technological innovations. The widespread use of internet technologies, Web 2.0 applications, and digital resources has changed users’ information-seeking behaviors and increased expectations from library services. This study aims to examine the digital transformation process in libraries and determine academics’ awareness and expectations regarding digital library services. In this context, the information-seeking behaviors, information access preferences, and evaluations of digital library services among academics at Necmettin Erbakan University were examined. A qualitative research design was adopted, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 19 academics from different academic units. The collected data were analyzed through content analysis using MAXQDA 18 software. The findings show that academics primarily prefer internet-based resources for accessing information. Participants highlighted that digital library services provide advantages such as fast and easy access to information, remote accessibility, time and cost savings, and resource preservation. However, challenges including information reliability, information overload, limited resource diversity, and insufficient awareness of digital services were identified. The study concludes that digital transformation has positively contributed to the development of library services. However, digital services need to be continuously improved according to changing user needs and expectations. The findings provide important insights for developing innovative and sustainable service models in the digital transformation process of libraries.
